Stand Up And Do It Again
Let me tell you a story.
In my high school years, I had a classmate named Felix. His father bought a new bicycle for him. I was so delighted to see Felix going to school with his new bike. In my mind, I’m wishing that hopefully, I had mine too. Fortunately, he was so generous to let me use it during his free time. However, I didn’t know how to drive it alone so I asked him if he could teach me. He agreed.
I am so nervous and afraid if I would go out of balance and find myself lying on the street with scratches all over my body. This thought kept haunting me. I requested Felix to drive with me during the first attempts until I get the correct balance which he accepted. We started with the basic balancing skills, then getting the timing of the pedals and focusing my eyes on the road where I’m driving. I’m enjoying every moment of it but when he challenged me to do it alone I felt nervous again.
But I have to face my fears. I accepted the challenge. I was able to drive the bicycle alone but few meters away I lost my balance and found myself on the side of the street. Fortunately, I didn’t have any scratch on my body. Felix laughed at the same time worried. I stood up again and still determined to drive and the same problem happened. I’m about to give up when I realized that I need to learn how to drive. It was my goal. The third try I got the right combination of all those basic skills and didn’t fall again thereafter.
The road to success is full of humps and diversions. Along the way, you will suffer challenges that will test your determination and will to succeed. Face and never avoid them. As long as you know what your goal is those challenges are just nothing. Be ready to stand up and do it again and again until you finally get the right formula of all the things you need to reach your dreams.
One important key to consider is to find a mentor to help you, especially during the early stages. Be humble to ask and learn from them.
Believe that you are bound for greatness and nothing can stop you from achieving it. Trust in yourself. Trust in God.
To your rich future,
