While going home from work last Saturday, every time I refreshed my Facebook wall, I always see my friends’ posts about the Maalaala Mo Kaya Episode and all of them expressed the same feeling and opinion.
And I got curious.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch it when I arrived home. For a while, I forgot about it. But yesterday, again, I chanced upon another post of my friend about the episode. Still, I ignored it as I’m planning to sleep early.
However, something inside was telling me to watch it once and for all and lo and behold, I hardly breathe while watching. Tears were just falling from my eyes.
Curious about the story?
I don’t want to spoil you if ever you never watch it until now. I highly recommend you to watch and reflect on it. Really it’s one of the most touching episodes I watched in my whole life.
You can watch the full story here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDvvUS8Vg0Q
But to give you a teaser or overview of the story, here is my reflection.
“Life is so short to be wasted for nothing. Always choose to serve and not to be served. Choose to love rather than hate. Be selfless and not selfish. Think of others first before yourself. Do things out of love, not out of obligation. Believe that true love exists. Sometimes it comes in a way you never expect. Don’t just give up but fight until the end. When the one you love is out of your sight anymore, that’s the time you will realize how important he or she is to you. Create memories that will last a lifetime, not for a short time. Not just any memory but happy and eternal memories. Finally, the very purpose of our life is to love others. The way Jesus loved and died for us.”
I can still type more comforting and uplifting words about the episode but I will leave them to you. You should watch it now and please feel free to share your reflections too.
To end and to sum it up, the story of John and Aika simply mirrored the kind of love that Jesus has for each and every one of us where he sacrificed His life in order to save us and give us new life. Exactly the same with the things John did for Aika.
Now, let me ask you, “Are you willing to sacrifice your life just to save the one you really love and give him or her a new life?”
